LAUNE RIVER

THIS PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS THE LAUNE RIVER FLOWING OUT OF KILLARNEY LAKE( BEAT 1)

I have only fished this river twice,once at the start of the season and the second time in mid season as can be seen from the low water levels in the photographs.The Laune river is well noted for it's runs of salmon and grilse but most succesfully  fished in high water on beat one.When fishing beat one at the start of the season I took four salmon which were kelts and were in excellent condition.All the salmon were returned,unfortunatly I was unable to tempt a spring fish to the bank.I did see a fresh fish being caught on the same day  weighing 10lbs aprox.The fish was taken on a Black and Silver Flying Condom spinner.There were many and I repeat many kelt salmon showing at the edge of the lake and in pools at the start of the river.
